Soneva Fushi, Maldives
From July 7 – 16, guests at Soneva Fushi can enjoy a range of culinary experiences specially tailored for Eid al-Adha. Start the day at Mihiree Mithaa, with live music and a delectable array of speciality dishes prepared by master chefs. You can also feast on a Maldivian-themed buffet featuring local delicacies prepared by the women of Maalhos for lunch.
Starting July 4 till July 12, two Michelin-starred Italian chef Alberto Faccani will be hosting a series of exclusive dining events as part of the Soneva Stars roster. Adding to the star-studded evenings is former professional footballer Rafael Márquez, who will be hosting a series of summer football camps from July 25 – August 8.
The activities list is endless, right from Maldivian cooking classes, sailing on a traditional dhoni for an afternoon of fishing, fen kulhi water fights and even the annual Hosts vs guests football tournament among several other things.
For those looking to get in touch with nature, the resident marine biologist will accompany you on a guided snorkelling trip to one of the spectacular reefs found in the Baa Atoll, or swim with majestic manta rays in the nearby Hanifaru Bay. Guests can also join a Conscious Experience and tour the island’s Eco Centro Waste to Wealth Centre and the organic gardens at Fresh in the Garden. Soneva Jani, Maldives
As part of the ever-changing Soneva Stars calendar, Soneva Jani will be hosting a culinary residency by one of the greatest Dutch culinary talents, Jonathan Zandbergen, from July 1 – 12. Chef and director at two Michelin-starred Kong Hans Kælder restaurant in Copenhagen, Mark Lundgaard, is also expected at Soneva Jani from July 14 – July 23.
As for the culinary explorations this Eid al-Adha, Soneva Jani’s South Beach has some live cooking stations serving dishes from across the Middle East, inspired by ancient tales of adventure. After dinner, guests can unwind on the beach with some shisha and mocktails. Throughout the holidays, the Shisha Beach Bar offers an ideal spot for sundowners too, with unmatched views as the sun sets over the horizon. For the football fanatics, freestyling sensation Marcel Gurk is slated to host workshops from July 1 – July 13, followed shortly by sporting legend David Villa from July 20 – July 31.
Families with children can enjoy a fun-packed programme of activities at The Den children’s zone – from beachside picnics and ocean bingo to making a splash with an array of watersports. Older children and teens aged 12 and up can also join the expert-led, modular courses by the Soneva Academy. And this is just the tip of a large fun-filled iceberg!
Soneva Kiri, Thailand
Taking guests on a journey of culinary discovery along the Spice Route, guests can enjoy a range of dining experiences as part of Soneva Kiri’s Eid celebrations. Start the day with an a la carte menu of breakfast classics and healthy options at The Dining Room, while speciality dishes are expertly prepared to order at the Middle Eastern live cooking stations.
In the afternoon, as guests soak in the views from North Beach, a delectable lunch of roast lamb pit-cooked to perfection awaits. And for dinner, there’s a feast of flavours from across North Africa and the Middle East at the Middle Eastern and Moroccan Street Buffet. From sizzling kebabs and succulent shawarma to freshly-baked flatbreads followed by heavenly desserts, it’s heaven on a plate.
As part of the culinary voyage, guests at Soneva Kiri can learn how to cook their favourite dishes from an array of cuisines and cultures or broaden their horizons by trying something completely new.
For the adventurous guests wanting to explore Koh Kood’s pristine coral reefs and abundant array of marine life, there’s a Koh Rang Snorkelling adventure to Koh Rang Yai National Marine Park lined up. While Koh Kood is also home to some of Thailand’s best but least-visited, beaches – the Seven Days, Seven Beaches tour invites guests aboard a traditional fishing boat to explore the coastline and drop anchor in hidden coves and secluded bays.
Led by experienced childminders, young Sonevians as part of the Den experiences can explore the jungle in search of giant Banyan and Maca trees, learn about sustainability and island life on Koh Kood, and take part in a host of other exciting activities.
