It’s World Rum Punch Day, therefore the perfect excuse to whip up this super easy recipe!

The first known mentions of Rum are from the West Indies, in records at Barbados dating around 1650.
Back then, they were called ‘kill-devil’ or ‘rumbullion’, until 1667 when it came to be known simply as rum. Since then, there have been multiple innovative ways to consume the drink — right from cocktails like the Daiquiri, Mai Tai, or Pina Colada —to having it simple with a splash of water and ice. People have also come to cook with rum in recent times, so you can spot it anywhere from desserts to wings and all things in between.
One such popular favourite rum consumption method is definitely Punch. And like with every other event marking alcohol, today’s World Rum Punch Day and an excuse to concoct some!

The classic drink is one of the earliest known cocktails, with written references dating to at least the 17th century. Traditionally featuring a spirit, citrus, spice, sugar and water, punch offers the creative drinker a wide berth for experimentation.
Typically served chilled, your average rum punch will feature tropical juices like pineapple, orange, and lemon or lime, and grenadine. And of course, the star of the show. Traditionally, the normal grenadine amount in Jamaican rum punch is beyond excessive. However, you can take it up or down the notch of being cloyingly sweet, as per your preferences!
