You cannot celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi without digging into some divine modaks. Believed to be one of Lord Ganesha’s favourite dishes, it is customary to offer modaks to him at Ganesh Chaturthi. The classic modak, of course, is the steamed variety, known as ukdiche modak, and the traditional filling is freshly grated coconut mixed with jaggery. Over the years there has been a lot of innovation in modak making and now they come in a mind-boggling variety. We’re sure these upmarket modaks will set your tastebuds aflame.
Handcrafted modak box, The St. Regis

The chefs at The St. Regis have curated a decadent mix of chocolate-based modaks, Indian-inspired modaks and classic modaks for the festivities. The chocolate-based modaks come in three varieties: Iranian Pistachio (34% Ghana Milk); Turkish Coffee (64% Cacao); and Madagascar Vanilla with Ras Al Hanout (28% White). There are three kinds of Indian-inspired modaks too: Gram Fudge and Caramelised Hazelnuts; Slow Roasted Nuts, Organic Jaggery and 24 Karat Gold; and Kashmiri Cashew & Saffron. Then there’s the classic ukadiche modak, stuffed with coconut, organic jaggery, khoya and cardamom. The modaks are available in boxes of 4, 12 and 24 modaks.
