Resplendent Ceylon launches boutique brand, Reverie, with two new properties along Sri Lanka’s South Coast

Resplendent Ceylon’s Reverie has entered the hospitality world in Sri Lanka with Kayaam House in Tangalle and Ahu Bay in Ahungalla.

From the masterminds behind Sri Lanka’s leading luxury hotel collection, Resplendent Ceylon, comes Reverie, a collection of laidback boutique properties, which embrace the island’s slow pace of life. Reverie has been launched with the opening of two brand new luxe properties — Kayaam House in Tangalle, and Ahu Bay in Ahungalla, which is scheduled to open its doors in February 2023.

“The core brand values remain the same as Resplendent Ceylon, as Reverie is born out of the same family and concept. Our offerings, in terms of guest experience and service, will be mindfully and personally paced. Reverie. however. will focus on smaller, intimate properties across Sri Lanka,” said Malik J. Fernando, Managing Director, Resplendent Ceylon.

The two properties are located two hours apart along the South Coast, famed for its miles of golden sand, palm-fringed coastlines, abundance of marine life, and ocean-washed shores. Both properties can also be accessed via the Southern expressway, making the transfers seamless. Expertly curated by the local teams, each of Reverie’s properties will offer soulful experience menus that offer guests the chance to completely, mindfully and respectfully immerse themselves into Sri Lanka’s rich cultural heritage.

Kayaam House is a spiritual sanctuary in a secluded spot in Tangalle, just steps from the vast Indian Ocean, home to nine rooms and suites, and a chic, Bawa inspired 20-cover restaurant and bar. The Kayaam House journey focusses on restoration and recovery with wellness as a key part of every guest experience. The Sanctuary Spa will feature a treatment room with therapies based on traditional healing methods utilising hyperlocal herbs and spices, whilst guests can find additional opportunities to bathe in nature at the outdoor yoga pavilion or at the far-reaching infinity pool.

Perched on Ahungalla Point between two secluded bays on the south-west coast is Ahu Bay, a relaxed 16-key beach house for free-spirits, made up of a collection of four suites and three three-bedroom beach villas, available either on a rent-by-the-room or exclusive use basis. Pared-back, rustic interiors feature neutral sandy tones, rattan furniture, recycled wood accents, and plenty of natural greenery. A casual all-day dining venue is to serve Sri Lankan and international favourites, surrounded by manicured lawns, beach cabanas, the signature Sanctuary Spa, and a shimmering, infinity pool.

The Reverie resorts are ideal for larger buyouts, milestone celebrations, and long-weekend getaways. “Extended stay visas have been introduced, and flight connectivity has always been excellent. Sri Lankan Airlines operates regular flights to nine key cities in India and as many as 80 flights a week between the two countries. The airline also hopes to ramp up frequencies further with the growth of tourism. All of these factors highlight that 2023 is the year to visit Sri Lanka,” added Fernando.

These openings will closely be followed by a third property, Kelburne Estate, set to open in December 2023 as a collection of hillside cottages in the tea carpeted mountains of Haputale.
