In partnership with the US Cranberries Marketing Association, The Leela hotels has introduced a limited edition menu combining cranberries and chaat!
The gateway to Indian cuisine for the popular world has always been chaat. Given the diversity of the country’s culinary landscape, different states have their localised version of classics like pani-puri, Dahi puri, etc.
A much-loved tradition of snacking across India, chaat is an intrinsic part of the country’s food culture. The history of chaat has also evolved over the years using unique and newer ingredients making way for innovation.
The etymology of the word is attributed to two possibilities; one being the ‘chatpata’ or tangy sensation, the other being ‘chatna’, or to lick. Given the massive craze, great taste, and accessibility, the street food sector with the chaat stalls in particular have only grown in size over the years. Before the pandemic came along, of course.
Even so, as the chaat ‘aficionados’ now step out to make up for lost time, The Leela Palaces, Hotels, and Resorts in partnership with the US Cranberries Marketing Association are here to satiate cravings! Their exotic new menu ‘Cranberry, Chaat & Chai’ brings out the essence of Indian cuisine using the US Cranberries.
The limited edition delectable gourmet menu is available across all The Leela hotels during afternoon high tea, till 31st December 2021. Using the sweet, sour, and tangy flavours of the cranberry alongside the heritage chaats, the culinary maestros at The Leela have created a unique gastronomical experience in association with author and food historian, Anoothi Vishal.
Each hotel has crafted a unique menu and highlights some innovative dishes such as Chatkari Cranberry Chaat, Mewe our Mawe Ki Chaat, Cranberry Corn Golgappa to Cranberry Dahi Bhalla, Chowpatty Cranberry Bhel, Cranberries Stuffed Jaipuri Kachori, Paan Ke Patte Ki Chaat, Old Delhi Cranberry Tikki and many more. There’s also a chaat twist on French classics, with dishes like the Cranberry and Aloo Chaat Croissant.
Native to the United States, cranberries have been vital in concocting a renewed spectrum of flavors for the palette. Chefs at The Leela have substituted elements that are astringent in chaat with this superfruit while envisioning a mélange of contrasting flavors and textures.
Headquartered in Mumbai, The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts have constantly celebrated art, culture, and cuisine with thoughtfully curated experiences. In addition to the flagship hotel in the capital city of New Delhi, they are also present across Bengaluru, Bhartiya City Bengaluru, Chennai, Udaipur, Jaipur, Gurugram, East Delhi, Goa, and Gandhinagar.
The ‘Cranberry, Chaat, and Chai’ menu is a gourmet elevation of the humble street delicacy and the trending berry. What better way to spend an afternoon than indulging in some bold new flavours at The Leela?
