An exclusive weekend pop-up at Dashanzi is bringing Delhi’s iconic Sidecar experience and bartender Yangdup Lama himself to Mumbai!
Located at the JW Marriott Juhu in Mumbai, Dashanzi has come to be renowned as one of the leading gin bars in the country. Add to that Delhi’s iconic Sidecar experience courtesy the famed bartender and co-owner Yangdup Lama, and you have a winner of a night!
On for a weekend on March 4 and 5, 2022 at Dashanzi, Mumbai, this is slated to be an immersive experience for cocktail lovers. The event is going to be an amalgamation of Dashanzi’s Beijing art district inspired vibe and the finest of Sidecar’s bespoke bar experience. The two-day pop up will offer connoisseurs and cocktail enthusiasts an opportunity to experience drinks crafted by the master bartender, Yangdup Lama himself.
With a whopping 25 years of experience in bartending, Yangdup comments on his cocktail philosophy, “I have always believed in the fact that since guests are the ultimate consumers of cocktails, they are the ones that drive us to do better, and to strive for more. The idea is to have a solid base in the know-how and technical skills and blend that nicely with a pleasing personality and voila! You have a great cocktail, served by a memorable bartender lending to an unforgettable experience and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to bring this philosophy, and with it some stellar cocktails to the guests at Dashanzi.”
His idea of a good bar is simple – the guest is the star and the bartender is the medium that makes them feel so. The menu comprises four of Sidecar’s signature concoctions since the bar’s inception. First up is the Measure of Substance, made with Makaibari First Flush infused light blend of scotch, eucalyptus honey and B&G ginger pepper bitters. If tonics and lemon sound more like your palate, you could try the Agony of the Leaves, using the Makaibari Summer Solstice sous vide Bianco Vermouth, London Essence Co. tonic water and lemon peel.
Adding to the list of award winning cocktails by Yangdup, you have Zing Thing (gin, aromatic bitters, pink grapefruit and hibiscus cordial) and Beer Brewer (roasted barley infused scotch whisky, wheat beer and vetiver). The highlight of the event however is the exclusive concoction inspired by Asia, the Duck Sour Sauce. Made with gin, oriental plum sauce, and a sweet chilli mix, this is an exclusive and exciting curation for guests at Dashanzi.
Currently, Sidecar is ranked at 47 in the World’s 50 Best Bars list and the only Indian Bar to be featured there on. It also ranks at 16 in the Asia’s 50 Best Bars list. Yangdup himself has been featured by Drinks International Magazine, United Kingdom in the coveted list of Bar World’s 100 Most Influential Figures in 2020 and 2021, the first Indian to do so!
