We call TravelDine our ‘love letter’ to the fascinating world of food, drinks, hotels and travel. We are in the business of imagination, inspiration, and not to forget, fun.
The last year has been anything but fun for the world as we continue to live our lives either under a lockdown or with restrictions. But then, how do you disassociate the word from the world we present in our digital publication?
TravelDine has its roots planted in midst of a global pandemic. It was in June 2020 that we hit the send button of our first newsletter, monikered Travelgram, which was delivered to a very private database in a bid to keep a floundering travel industry engaged. We clearly underestimated the feedback. The industry was not just encouraging; it was generous in its appreciation and accolades. Encouraged, we experimented with broader strokes and added food and drink to what was primarily a travel-focused communication.
We ultimately launched a full-fledged digital publication in December 2020. Since then, we have offered support and tracked brave new ideas from the travel, hospitality, food, and drinks industries. More importantly, we have attempted to capture that feeling of fun, lightness, happiness, that enduring quality of adventure, and the elusive magic which indulging in the world of good food and great travel experiences engenders.
A portmanteau of two evergreen words that conjure a million images of good times, fun memories, the chatter of friends….of life itself, everything that TravelDine will continue to explore.
The art of storytelling is far more important today than it ever was, and we promise to be the best storytellers through our content, photographs and videos. While you are staying in, we will bring to you the ideas of virtual travel and dining-in on exciting menus put out by India’s best chefs. And when you begin to step out, we will tell you where to dine and travel, which are the hottest hotel addresses and the finest chefs at the moment.
As we ride into year two, we take this opportunity to thank all our friends from the industry who took time out to contribute, advice, and participate in building what we now call TravelDine. One of our bigger supporters has been my dear friend Peter Bates, who has presented a series of deep-dive interviews with top hoteliers on our platform.
