The camel fair every winter might be in every travel guide, but a trip to this area will also give you the opportunity for easy hikes in the Aravalli hills, village walks, rose farm experiences, visits to historic Ajmer, and one of the very rare temples dedicated to Lord Brahma.

Where to stay:

Pratap Mahal Pushkar IHCL SeleQtion is a gem of a palace, with traditional architecture, ornate décor, creamy white marble, and Rajasthani painted swings in the rooms. Getting there:

A short flight to Hubli and then a two-hour drive will bring you to gorgeous Gokarna, one of the most sought-after and scenic beach destinations in India. The best part? You’re still in the same state so you don’t need any Covid tests to enter or exit.

What to explore:

Some pristine beaches such as Paradise, Kudle, and the popular Om (which is indeed in the shape of an Om) line the coast here. If you’re interested in the local culture, walk through the beautiful villages with red-tiled roofs, visit the Sri Mahabaleshwara Swami Temple and Shiva Cave. Nature rambles along easy paths parallel to the coast are also fulfilling for more active travellers.

Where to stay:

The luxurious Kahani Paradise, a private villa with just six sumptuous suites, is perfect for the glam getaway you have been wanting to treat yourself to. The common areas (if you can call spaces done with such exquisite taste that!) are perfect to lounge around in, allowing you the comfort of being indoors even as you can breathe in that pure forest air and allow your gaze the expanse to travel to the horizon. Well-chosen artefacts add to the ambience, while their attentive staff pampers you silly.
