K Lakshminarayanan, Minister for Public Works, said that the department has planned to organise a number of events including fashion show, sky lantern display, live band shows, kite flying, silambam and uriyadi events, violin concert, folk music and dance, cine orchestra, bubble show, and gymnastics. Seafood feasts across all locations as well as a bicycle marathon from Kalapet to Puducherry on April 14 are also in the line-up.

One of the major attractions, says Lakshminarayanan, will be the sunrise fish tour where guests will be taken to the sea to participate in fishing activities and on their return, will be served delicacies cooked with the fresh catch. According to Lakshminarayanan, Puducherry has been rated as a top weekend destination with tourists from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh flanking the UT on weekends.
