Amul brings together a host of acclaimed chefs from across the world on World Milk Day to showcase milk-based recipes all day on June 1.
The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations, in 2001, established June 1 as World Milk Day. The initiative aims to celebrate the dairy sector and recognise the vital role of milk as a global food. In India, the world’s largest milk producer responsible for over a fifth of global production, the dairy sector employs millions and accounts for nearly one-third of rural household income. The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF), popularly known for the brand Amul, is India’s largest food product marketing organisation which registered a turnover of over Rs 52,000 crore last year. On this World Milk Day, which focuses on sustainability in the dairy industry, Amul has organised a string of Facebook live events to run through the day.
The World Milk Day live sessions will feature acclaimed chefs from across the world who will each be showcasing a recipe that has milk at its core to emphasise upon the importance of milk across cultures and cuisines.
