LOUIS XIII Cognac brings its opulent and rare crystal decanters to India

Bringing the largest and rarest decanters of their iconic collection, LOUIS XIII now comes to India.

The elegance of LOUIS XIII has always been timeless, and now India gets to explore it too!

As part of this leg of the luxury brand’s journey, they announced Mansionz by Living Liquidz and Vaz Enterprises as its first two official retail partners in the subcontinent. At their outlets you’ll find showcased the LOUIS XIII decanters with sublime and tailor-made displays, inviting wine & spirit lovers to discover the iconic collection.

Since its origins in 1874, each generation of Cellar Master selects from their cellars only the most precious eaux‐de‐vie for LOUIS XIII. Today, Cellar Master Baptiste Loiseau has set aside the finest eaux‐de‐vie as a legacy to his successors for the coming century.

What makes a decanter of LOUIS XIII special is both the place of its origin as well as the make and storage from start to finish. The exquisite blend is sourced from Grande Champagne, the first cru of the Cognac region. i.e., the best soil in the world for the production of the drink. The delicate and meticulous maintenance means the taste of the cognac hasn’t wavered from the first decanter till date.

And then, of course, there are the legendary decanters. These have been mouth‐blown by some of the most skilled master craftsmen for generations. LOUIS XIII features exceptional aromas evoking myrrh, honey, dried roses, plum, honeysuckle, cigar box, leather, figs and passion fruit.

Artisanal in nature, each decanter is also uniquely numbered. The design and cognac itself have been inspired by the original 16th-century metal flask discovered on the site of the battle of Jarnac (France). It takes 11 artisans to fashion this decanter, which is embellished with the symbol of French royalty—fleurs-de-lys, hand-pinched spikes, and its neck ringed in 20-carat gold. Today, the decanter is topped by a solid crystal fleur-de-lys stopper, resembling a cathedral spire.

LOUIS XIII is a brand distinctively created for connoisseurs and hedonists who take pleasure in sharing and celebrating special occasions. Honouring magnificent Indian celebrations, LOUIS XIII introduces in 2022 and for the first time in India, the two largest and rarest crystal decanters of its iconic collection. The LOUIS XIII Mathusalem, a 6L decanter, and the LOUIS XIII Jeroboam, a 3L decanter are both masterpieces of the collection.

Each of the 200 Jeroboam decanters released worldwide every year requires the skills of no less than 11 craftsmen. The final result is a work of art; which is mouth-blown and then cut, shaped, and painted by hand. As a final touch, each decanter is individually numbered to keep a record of its rarity; the perfect heirloom to pass down through families and time.

With only 50 produced each year, the biggest Masterpiece of the LOUIS XIII iconic collection is a rare and exquisite collector item. The Mathusalem is a testament to LOUIS XIII’s pioneering spirit and innovation. Each 6L cognac decanter is handmade by a team of 20 master crystal artisans.

Both exceptional decanters are presented in an opulent wooden trunk. They’re accompanied by Christophe Pillet-designed glasses, the traditional LOUIS XIII pipette, known as a Spear. The entire kit then allows the same serving ritual as a LOUIS XIII Cellar Master and a display podium.

The luxury decanters are subject to pre-order, depending on worldwide rare stock availability. So if you have a taste for the finer things in life, these might be worth adding to your collection.
