The first of the magical musical evenings in Bengaluru held the Garden City’s glitterati spellbound.
After shows at the Leela Palace in Delhi and Chennai, the TravelDine Jazz Nights juggernaut travelled to Bengaluru. The city’s music enthusiasts turned out in style for the first of three evenings of scintillating Jazz with Paddy’s Hot Five at the breathtakingly beautiful Leela Palace Bengaluru.

The fabulous Ahona Sen was the vocalist for the evening, and she sang in three languages — Spanish (Cuban Jazz), Portuguese (Brazilian Samba) and English (Jazz standards). The band was equally versatile playing music as diverse as tunes from Charlie Parker and John Coltrane to Freddie Mercury and Antonio Carlos Jobim to Celia Cruz!

The performance by the original Paddy’s Trio (Pradyumna Manot a.k.a. Paddy on piano, Tamaghna Mukherjee a.k.a Bihu on drums, and Aditya Servaia on bass) included Impressions and Joshua.

Saxophonist Aniket Chaturvedi came in for Au Privave and joined Ahona and the trio for Girl from Ipanema and a brilliant version of Lover Come Back To Me. The finale was the Rock classic Crazy Little Thing Called Love from Queen but played in a lively Jazz swing style! It was indeed a very versatile and exciting evening of Jazz.

Guests enjoyed the gloriously lit indoor-outdoor venue, the crisp Bengaluru weather, delicious hors d’oeuvres and sizzling grills doing the rounds, wines, spirits, and some lip-smacking cocktails. And even though their cups were running over with music, food, and drinks, there was also a lucky draw with tempting prizes ranging from a carefully curated luxury gift hamper from TravelDine to special giveaways from The Leela!
