On the occasion of World Photography Day, a look at the most Instagrammed hotel in the Middle East.
Instagram’s year in review has declared Atlantis, The Palm, one of Dubai’s most iconic resorts, the most photographed and Instagrammed hotel in Dubai and the Middle East.

Located at the centre of the crescent of The Palm in Dubai, Atlantis was the first entertainment resort destination to open in the region back in September 2008. Even by Dubai standards, where everything needs to be bigger, better and brighter, Atlantis is built on a massive scale!

With spacious guestrooms and suites (some with a sea-view balcony and some underwater ones, which offer a window into the massive Ambassador Lagoon that spans several storeys), two outdoor swimming pools, 1.4 kms of beach, a water park and an aquarium, 29 spectacular restaurants and lounges and a host of activity centres housed within, Atlantis is like a standalone township. The unique ocean-themed resort features a variety of marine and entertainment attractions, as well as 22 hectares of waterpark amusement at the sprawling Atlantis Aquaventure, all within a 46-hectare site.

The Aquaventure Waterpark features 23.5 million litres of fresh water used to power 105 thrilling waterslides and attractions, including several world record-breaking slides and two river rides featuring tidal waves and pools, water rapids and white-water chargers. Dolphin Bay, the unparalleled dolphin conservation and education habitat, and Sea Lion Point were created to provide guests with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn more about some of nature’s friendliest mammals.
Still one of the biggest waterparks in the world, it also boasts one of the largest open-air marine habitats, with more than 65,000 marine animals in lagoons and displays, including The Lost Chambers Aquarium, a maze of underwater corridors and passageways providing a journey through the ancient city of Atlantis.

Atlantis is also known as the culinary destination in the region where guests can take their pick from a collection of 29 world-renowned restaurants, including Bread Street Kitchen & Bar, Hakkasan, Nobu, Ronda Locatelli, Seafire Steakhouse & Bar, and the award-winning underwater restaurant, Ossiano. Though extremely family-friendly, Atlantis is also home to a buzzing nightlife scene with entertainment destination Wavehouse offering something for everyone, while the WHITE Beach & Restaurant is the perfect place to unwind with a drink as the sun slips into the Arabian Sea.

The resort also has an impressive collection of luxury boutiques and shops as well as extensive meeting and convention facilities and ample venues for destination weddings. The ambience, with slick golf carts ferrying residents on meandering, palm-fringed pathways, resembles a Mediterranean resort; and the bright interiors, embellished with marble, murals and blown glass art by European creators, add to this impression. Atlantis has undergone major refurbishments and has strict safety protocols in place, so it’s the perfect mix of careful and carefree.
