From kiwis and blueberries to walnuts and wines, ProChile brings fresh, organic Chilean produce to India.
Snuggled between the Andes and the Pacific Ocean, Chile is known for its varied landscapes that gift this long, narrow country its diverse climates, unique topographies, and of course, its exceptional variety in wines and fruits. Those who have had the fortune to visit the South American wonderland, know that the Chilean delicacies are worth the hype. For those who haven’t yet, ProChile is bringing the experience to you here in India.
The India office of ProChile, the agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile, hosted a one-of-a-kind event titled #UnboxingChile at The Leela Ambience, Gurugram. ProChile India focusses on promoting export of the best of Chilean goods and services and boosting commercial relationship between the two countries. Its new trade campaign is all about introducing Indian market to the organic produce, ranging from walnuts, apples, cherries, kiwis, to blueberries and Chilean wines.
The main objective of #UnboxingChile campaign is to offer to India a box full of surprises. Open the box, and you will be surrounded with diverse experiences that familiarise you with the Chilean culture, vivid colours, and enchanting tastes and aromas. It intends to make you travel all the way to Chile through these products and feel the warmth of the locals there who get them ready for you with utmost care.
After the exciting unboxing experience, the night unfolded with a fun quiz, followed by a special dinner put together by Executive Chef Ashish Bhasin, bringing Chilean tastes to the tables. Think an extensive menu with gourmet dishes like chicken liver pralines with Chilean walnuts, butternut squash raviolo with Chilean walnut mousse, and pan-seared Chilean sea bass with quinoa honey salad, sago crisps and apple celery veloute. For final course, a dedicated room full of desserts dished out using Chilean fruits and dry fruits, was thrown open to the guests.
Speaking on the occasion, H E Juan Angulo, Ambassador of Chile to India, said, “Chile and India share a tremendous relationship that is based on shared values. Economic partnership between the two countries continues to grow, and the food is a very important part of this. Indians are slowly getting a taste of Chilean foods and are beginning to appreciate the quality that Chilean produce brings. Chile is bestowed with a unique topography to make Chile a phytosanitary island. This is a primary reason for the high-quality of produce that comes from there.”
Marcela Alejandra Zuñiga Alegria, Trade Commissioner of ProChile in India, said that the goal of ProChile is to bring Chile closer to India and improve the visibility of Chile, as country, supplier and partner. “ProChile is a non-profit entity, whose main objective is to improve bilateral trade between both countries. #UnboxingChile is an international campaign that comes alive tonight in India and provides an incredible opportunity to know and connect with Chile, its flavours and its people,” she added.
ProChile’s campaign stands true to the country’s latest global tagline, “Every time you open a Chilean Product you are #UnboxingChile.”
