An inkling of the coastal state of Goa shadows the newly launched gin by Bombay Sapphire. Dubbed Bombay Sapphire Sunset, this limited edition is a premium, vapour-infused gin carrying characteristics of ten distinct botanicals sourced from various regions around.

Taking visual inspirations from the enchanting Goa and the sun setting on the horizon, the ‘Sunset’ edition interplays the narrative of tropical flavours and fragrance borrowed from three new botanicals—that is the Indian White Cardamom, Golden Turmeric and Spanish Mandarin.

Making the ‘Sunset’

While all the botanicals in the Sunset expression are sourced directly from the suppliers and farmers, nulling the role of botanical brokers in the process, the sun-dried Spanish Mandarin peel is brought in sustainably from Murcia, a city in Spain.

The subtle but prominent notes that make the body of Bombay Sapphire Sunset come alive with the vapour-infused technique to make the gin. The making of the spirit begins with layering the botanicals over the juniper berries and slowly letting the vapour infuse the hints of the ingredients into the spirit. This process ensures the amalgamation of each note into the base spirit in a way that it does not overpower one another but remains balanced.

Being a limited-edition launch with its own personality, the spirit becomes a collectible as well as a versatile gin to experiment with. Its three winning flavours imbue some soft and robust undertones—while the Indian cardamom decorates the spirit with a hint of spice, the Spanish Mandarin stirs up its sweet zestiness and the Golden Turmeric brings in earthiness.

Posed as one of the most vibrant spirits to revel in during the sunset, this gin is best served with tonic water, or ginger ale and garnished with an orange wheel.

Bombay Sapphire Sunset will be available in 750ml bottles with its first launch in Goa, with expansion plans in the pipeline to be in the different markets across India in the coming few months.

“With the influx of gin trends in India and new-age consumers’ keenness for experimentation, we are committed to creatively champion artistry and versatility with our products. The Bombay Sapphire Sunset is a unique take on the premium gin, with botanicals inspired by the glorious and ethereal beauty of the Goan sunset,” says Adtnu Tiwari, Senior Brand Manager, Premium White Spirits, Bacardi India.
