Senior Area Director of Marketing – South Asia for Marriott International Inc, she encourages young women entering the profession to channel their resilience.
After 17 years with the group, Khushnooma Kapadia, who is Senior Area Director of Marketing – South Asia for Marriott International Inc, is in prime position to lead the company’s marketing and brand roadmap, as well as launch multiple new properties within Marriott’s portfolio in India. She manages all 16 brands of Marriott International that are present in India and is responsible for the strategic growth of these brands under the consortium. Kapadia now oversees the workings of 138 operating hotels in South Asia.

Kapadia has had a great experience working with the group and remembers how she entered the organisation when she herself was three months pregnant, which is indicative of their policies towards diversity and inclusivity even at that time. “Marriott as a group in its ethos and DNA has always been steeped in equality. So, while for many it may be a new thing to integrate women in the leadership structure, as far as Marriott is concerned, we are very focused and committed to making sure that there is no bias, that everybody is given equal opportunities. We have enough policies that support working women, and women with family, because typically that’s where you see the drop out,” says Kapadia.

She encourages young women entering the profession not to give up easily. “Our social set up is made in a way that the bulk of the responsibilities and heavy lifting has to be done by women, especially in conservative set ups where education is not supported. But I think you can fight that battle. And I know that you can do it because I didn’t come into this easy either,” she concludes.
