Heady with the aroma of coffee and the zing of black pepper, Aurika Coorg, is the newest resort of the Lemon Tree Hotels Ltd’s upscale brand Aurika Hotels & Resorts, after the first one that opened in Udaipur in 2019. Think 45 landscaped acres that encompass coffee plantations, pepper vines, and offer stunning vistas of the lush rainforest beyond. The luxury resort in the hill station of Madikeri offers a springboard into an immersive exploration of the surrounding areas of Coorg and the Western ghats of Southern India as well as the unique culture and cuisine of the Kodavas.

All about al fresco

Their all-day dining destination dubbed Mirasa, is also a beautiful mix of the indoors and outdoors, with a poolside section and access to the stargazing terrace called Au.rion. Here, you have the opportunity of some fine dining under the stars. Ariva is an old-school bar with a relaxed English club design, while, at Roast & Red, just as the name says, you can indulge in some fine coffees and wines. This lounge offers comfortable chairs and classy canapés and confectionaries to go with the brews.

Similarly, the resort’s stunning and serene outdoor swimming pool has lovely loungers to relax on while you’re plied with poolside snacks and beverages. Private cabanas at the stylish open-air deck called Aura are perfect for some down time too. If you’re feeling a little more active, you could play life-size Chess at Check & Mate, indulge in some actual star gazing at Au.rion or head to their putting green and croquet lawn for some fun.

They have some carefully curated experiences that you can sign up for during your stay. Greet the dawn with a sumptuous sunrise breakfast with sparkling wine on an east-facing terrace or by the poolside. You can even ‘Cook with the Chef’ in your very own master class. Enjoy breezy sundowners, dine under the stars, or have a fun moonlit barbecue.

In the event of an event…

The almost always pleasant climate in Coorg makes Aurika a great choice for events, especially with its large outdoor terraces like Ambara and Aurora. Ekaara, their sprawling pillar-less ballroom that is spread across 455 square metres, and a 21 square metre boardroom named Aurum, complete its compatibility for all sorts of celebrations and corporate events.

Doggy days out?

Special pet-friendly rooms are thoughtfully situated close to an open pup play area and have dog beds, bowls, and toys for use by your beloved fur babies during your stay. You can request additional items, such as, milk biscuits, hide bone, chew toys, wet wipes, and poop scoop. A canine menu has been created by their culinary experts and resident dog lovers, so your four-legged friends can have gourmet meals to suit their palate and nutritional needs just as you do and even eat with you in the cabanas at Aura.

Pets are also free to wander inside their rooms and the play area, and welcome to explore the property with their pawrents using the assigned dog walking pathways. And if you need some time to yourself, their K9 services also include dog walking and dog sitting by their resident dog lovers.

Exploring Coorg around Aurika

A number of sights abound in the area. Some, like a trek to Mandalpatti or a visit to Chiklihole Reservoir can be done as standalone day trips, while others, like Abbey Falls, Dubare Elephant Camp, Omkareswara Temple, Madikeri Fort, Mallalli Falls, Raja’s Seat, and Talakaveri, can be part of a clubbed sightseeing itinerary.
