Mumbai and Delhi become the first destinations for Etihad’s latest addition to their fleet. Here’s what you can expect when you fly on these planes.
Etihad is working on a new fleet plan which will focus on more fuel-efficient planes such as the Airbus A350 in its fleet, which are good for the environment as well, given the 25 per cent lower fuel burn compared to prior generation aircraft. Etihad recently inducted the Airbus A350-1000 aircraft into their fleet. They have 20 on order with Airbus and have already received five of these.
The airline did not introduce the new aircraft earlier because of the pandemic, but as it ebbed, the new A350-1000 has been put in service, with its first flight on March 31, 2022. The first flight was operated to Paris CDG to signify the support of Airbus, Etihad has chosen Delhi and Mumbai as two of the routes where you will be able to fly this aircraft year-long. The new aircraft is a joy to fly, with new features that will make the passenger experience even better.
The new A350-1000: Space and silence
The aircraft features Etihad’s newest cabin interior which is inspired by Abu Dhabi and is both more efficient and sustainable in design. In the business class, the focus is on privacy and in economy, it is about more space for travellers.
Etihad’s signature lighting design is inspired by the shadows cast by Abu Dhabi’s palm trees. The cabin lighting emulates natural ambient light and is designed to enhance the guest experience, provide an optimum environment for sleeping and reduce the effects of jetlag. The Airbus A350 also offers the quietest cabin experience for a wide-body aircraft.
Another feature to help reduce jetlag is the new dark-mode interface on the E-BOX inflight entertainment system. Mobile and Wi-Fi connectivity is also available throughout the aircraft.
Etihad’s new business class: Privacy is paramount
The new Etihad Business class makes its debut on the A350-1000. Etihad’s A350-1000 is home to 44 Business Studios with sliding doors that provide privacy to each suite. Every seat faces forward with direct aisle access. The Business-class seat, with a width of over 20 inches, converts into a fully flat bed of 79 inches in length, and features ample storage for convenience.
Noise-cancelling headphones and an 18.5-inch TV screen provide a cinematic experience to enjoy Etihad’s extensive inflight entertainment offering. The Business seats also feature a built-in wireless charging dock and Bluetooth headphone pairing, which means you can pair your headsets or pods with the screen.
Economy: Supporting more legroom and advanced tech
Etihad’s spacious Economy cabin is configured with 327 smart seats in a 3-3-3 arrangement, of which 45 ‘Economy Space’ seats have been enhanced with an additional four inches of legroom.
The seats feature Etihad’s signature supportive headrest, USB charging and Bluetooth headphone pairing, as well as a 13.3-inch screen to enjoy Etihad’s award-winning inflight entertainment system. Guests receive blankets and pillows for additional comfort and amenity kits, even in economy, on longer flights.
