The four-day lit fest held on Calicut Beach in Kozhikode is every Bibliophile’s dream come true.
Touted as the ‘second largest festival’ of its kind in Asia, Kerala Literature Festival is set to be back with its sixth edition after much delays due to several COVID-19 scares. The festival will be held in Kozhikode from January 12-15, 2023, on Calicut Beach along the shores of the Arabian Sea.
Supported by the government of Kerala and organised by D C Kizhakemuri Foundation, Kerala Lit Fest brings the best of literary and popular cultures, iconic writers, artists, authors, celebrities, and activists under a single roof. The four-day extravaganza aims to map literature through discussions on several aspects shaping human consciousness, including art, travel, cinema, environment, pandemic, and its impacts, politics, history, and economy.
KLF 2023 is expected to see over 400 speakers, including the likes of popular writer Jeffrey Archer, Nobel laureates Abhijit Banerjee and Ada Yonath, Piyush Pande, Francesc Miralles, Geethanjali Shree, Wendy Doniger, Ramachandra Guha, Palanivel Thiagarajan, Sanjeev Sanyal, Anand Neelakantan, Shashi Tharoor, Manu S Pillai, Prakash Raj, and Shobhaa De among others.
K Sachidanandan, a prominent writer and president of Kerala Sahitya Akademi will serve as the director of the festival again this year. Kerala Tourism Minister P M Muhammad Riyaz is the Chief Patron, former MLA Pradeep Kumar is Patron, and Municipal Corporation Chairperson, Beena Philip is the Chairperson of the organizing committee, and Ravi Deecee is the Chief Facilitator.
Nobel laureates, Jnanpith winners, Oscar awardees, Booker Prize recipients, literary icons, film and theatre personalities, performers and artists, designers, media personalities, sports icons, diplomats, and famous people from various walks of life are among the distinguished speakers.
The sixth edition was earlier scheduled to take place in January 2022 but was later postponed in the wake of rising cases of Omicron variant.
