A reigning traditional Indian mithai enjoyed in every household, Til Gudd Ke Laddoo (sesame laddoo) becomes an even special sighting during Lohri and Makar Sankranti, when the festival marks the arrival of the harvest season and a near-ending farewell to the winter days. Of the many theories around the origin of the word ‘Lohri’, one is that it is a combination of two words — til and rohri, or sesame and jaggery respectively. Both are the main ingredients of the festive feast and together sound like tilhori. Through the years, tilhori eventually was popularised as Lohri. Chef Kush Kohli of SAGA, Gurugram tells us how to make til gudd ke laddoo at home in a few easy steps.
