Inspired by the gravity-defying ancient forests you see on 360-degree outcrops, the Sky Garden is London’s highest public garden housed under a glass vaulted roof, offering front-row seats of the city’s breathtaking vistas. Google has placed this unique garden space on top of the list of ‘Top scenic spots of 2022’! Exquisitely landscaped gardens thick ferns, fig trees, purple African lilies, ancient cycads, and more, give way to observation decks, where you can marvel at the views for free.

What is the Sky Garden?

Taking up final three storeys of the ‘Walkie-Talkie’ skyscraper on 20 Fenchurch Street in London, the Sky Garden’s viewing gallery on the 43rd floor has floor-to-ceiling glass windows, a foliage-filled atrium, and an open-air terrace. Stroll through this lush urban jungle before making your way to one of the decks to gaze out at The Shard, The Gherkin, St Paul’s Cathedral, Tower Bridge, and of course, the Thames.

But that’s not all. The Sky Garden also houses well-regarded dining options. Overlooking the Thames, Darwin is a lively, all-day brasserie serving up seasonal British fare. The Fenchurch Restaurant is famous for contemporary British fine-dining menus and an award-winning wine list. Then, there’s also the swanky City Garden Bar perfect for sundowner cocktails, and Sky Pod Bar, if you fancy a hot cup of coffee along with fascinating panoramas. Sunrise yoga, live music sessions, and other fun activities are also available to book.

When to visit?

The viewing gallery is open to the public from 10am to 6pm on weekdays, and from 11am to 9pm on weekends.

How to book a visit?

Access to the Sky Garden is free of charge, but spaces are limited so advance booking is recommended. Visits must be booked in advance through the official site, and can be made up to three weeks in advance.
