The iconic Mysore Pak transcends borders with Khoya Legacy

Luxury sweets brand, Khoya Mithai, has launched Khoya Legacy to celebrate the finest of Indian regional sweets. The first sweet in the series is the iconic Mysore Pak — of course, with a special Khoya riff.

An accidental discovery that caught the attention of Mysuru’s royalty, Mysore Pak is getting some loving attention from Khoya Mithai, a gourmet sweet maker based in Delhi. To celebrate the culinary history of regional Indian sweets, Khoya has launched Khoya Legacy. Under this banner, the first edition celebrates Mysore Pak from Karnataka. Khoya has enhanced this simple yet exquisite royal dessert with the subtle yet key flavour of cardamom.

Sid Mathur, Founder, Khoya Mithai, says, “We have always been intrigued by the history of mithai. India has a rich and diverse variety of sweets, changing drastically from border to border whether in process, ingredients, or traditions. Many wonderful and iconic regional sweets don’t get discovered by people outside of those areas, and we want to change that.” By launching the Mysore Pak, Khoya challenges the hegemony of North Indian sweets available in Delhi and aims to find a rightful place for other regional sweets in their hall of fame. “We use a deeper tin, that allows for a slightly deeper brown in the centre,” adds Mathur.

Through this signature limited edition of regional sweets, Khoya is undertaking the challenge of recreating and preserving ancient methods, techniques, and recipes. The brand will release a new set of limited-edition sweets every few months under this banner using 100 per cent natural ingredients and organic sugar. Khoya is working towards fulfilling its vision of making traditional mithai exciting again. It also swears by its principles of not using preservatives or artificial colours.
